I recently caught up with Swedish musician Milou Froh, an introduction made to me through Moon Bus Records. The artist has a warm hippie-type thing going on and has pioneered a style called "Psykdisko." She's one half of the neo-psychedelic group Solkatt. We chatted about her style and where she's headed.

When did you first take an interest in music?

My father was a working musician and my mother is an actress so already from the start I had music around me every day. I remember the first song that caught me when I was 2 years old. It was ”Enya - Orinoco Flow”. I think I was inspired that day, and you can hear that in my music.

I’m still waiting for the "start" I think haha..

How would you describe the type of music that you make?

Dreamy, pop/rock, psychedelic underwater feeling!

Has your style changed much throughout your experience?

Yes! Ten years ago it was more electronic than today. I never used my voice until three years ago. It was hard for me to accept how my voice sounds. But I’m over it now :)

Any particular influences?

Boards of Canada, Tame Impala, White Poppy, Melody’s Echo Chamber, Dosh, Beatles and all the old good ones. (Talking about the 60’s).

What is your creative process like, do you get random insights and sit down to work or do you schedule out time to do so and see what happens?

All random, for sure! I have a hard time being creative on schedule!

I wish I could though.

Goals and dreams?

My dream is to release an EP pretty soon together with my soon to be husband Henric Jansson [link]. It would also be fun to have a band playing with me/us.

My goal is to keep up the music making whatever life will bring me, and have fun with it. It’s a natural part of my life and I just have to do it.

Any challenges you face being a musician?

For me the big challenge is myself.

To trust myself and let go.

You're also an artist, tell me about that. Do you feel like your art and music and direct influences to each other or do you different inspirations?

Yes, I kind of think that they are influenced by each other. I can be really inspired by nature or something I’ve filmed and I can almost hear in my head, a potential soundtrack to the things I see. Sometimes I make a song and do it the other way. But when I paint or marble it’s not like that. I just do it, but with some good inspiring music in the background.

What's next?

We Hope for a really relaxing, fun and inspiring honeymoon so that we can get some new ideas for the next step, which I hope will be an EP!

Milou can be found on Instagram. Peep her self-proclaimed "cheeeezy home video" post that is all things visually and auditorily pleasing.
